The length of the planks will vary, but should be about three feet shorter than the room measurement, in order to allow comfortable handling of the scaffold, without risk of damage to the walls.
Owing to the varying size rooms in the home, two planks are generally required – one long and one short. The ends of the plank should be protected with a piece of galvanized iron strapping, nailed or screwed on.
